Product side of MuseScore 4Īlthough we are still in the early stages of development, we wanted to show a few examples of what we are planning. Armed with two years of user feedback on MuseScore 3, we have begun the process of making significant improvements to almost all aspects of the application: improved engraving defaults, simplification of the interface, more powerful functionality and an overhaul of its appearance, to name a few. In order to achieve our goals, we need to look ‘inwards’ first. However, this does not mean that we are going to start adding new features at the expense of existing ones. MuseScore 4 is the first step in achieving this expanded focus. Re: Erroneous playback of slurs in 8.6.Today, we are happy to announce a new chapter in the history of MuseScore: we are now actively working on the development of MuseScore 4! Moving from Notation Software to Composition SoftwareĪlthough notation is always of paramount importance to MuseScore, we want to expand our capabilities to include other areas of modern composition: experimentation, sharing & collaboration, working with mixed media, sophisticated organisation and being able to produce high-quality audio. It could be a NotePerformer issue, but since that works fine in Sibelius First, I am suspecting Sibelius.Īny ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated! Live Tempo and Live Playback are turned off, and the Espressivo setting is set to Meccanico, as recommended by NotePerformer. I have tried to reinstall NotePerformer, to no avail. Sibelius 8.6.1 is a fresh install with hardly any setting changes.

I assume the defaults should sound fine, just like in Sibelius First 7.1.3. I have played with the note length parameters in Dictionary -> Lines -> Slurs (above/below) (which is not possible in Sibelius First), but I cannot fix my problem using that the problem seems to run deeper than that. I have uploaded two clips showing what my audio output is for both Sibelius versions for the attached score:

In the second violins the slurs also behave strangely: it sounds as if I might as well have written all the eight notes in that part staccato. In the provided score the gaps between slurs in the first violins are very apparent and overstated during playback. In Sibelius 8.6.1 the sounding gap between two adjacent slurred phrases seems way too big, and it even seems that the last note under each slur is articulated too loudly, as if it wasn't part of a slur. In particular, slur playback seems very different, which is especially noticeable in the string section. I have noticed that scores that playback beautifully in Sibelius First 7.1.3 do not do so anymore in Sibelius 8.6.1. I currently have both versions installed. With both versions I have been using the latest version of NotePerformer. I have recently upgraded from Sibelius First 7.1.3 to the full and most recent version, Sibelius 8.6.1.
